Abigail Pollock (they/them)
What motivates you to come to work everyday?
The opportunity for experiential learning. Every session with every client has something to teach me; about our bodies and perceptions and communications and ecosystems, what it means to be human and in service to the things that connect us.
What is your favorite part of your job?
The moment where a client and I both experience a shift in our perspective, where we can imagine and create space for a possibility that we couldn’t before, or find a creative alternative, or tell a different story about what we are experiencing. That’s something like hope.
What is your favorite holiday?
I grew up setting off homemade fireworks and eating my body’s weight in dumplings for Lunar New Year or Chinese Spring Festival, it’s pretty hard to beat that.
Tacos or pizza?
Tacos are essentially a poorly sealed dumpling, so...
If you could be any animal, what would you be?
An orca whale organizing with my yacht-sinking pod and sometimes wearing a salmon on my head as a hat.
Abigail is fully invested in palliative, complex illness, and end-of-life care -- unless massage therapy for trees ever becomes a viable career path. They have been a massage therapist since 2020 in their private studio, high-end spa, a physiotherapy clinic, and in clients’ homes. They maintain a private practice grounded in sovereignty and informed choice, focused on gender affirming, evidence-based, and client centered care for disability and chronic illness. A recovering non-profit leadership guy, they appreciate every opportunity to create meaningful connections and work with their hands. Abigail is thrilled to join both the vision and team of Healwell.
